Hi again Los Angeles Rams fans and welcome to this week’s game preview.
This week sees us in Seattle to play an old rival the Seahawks. Going right back to the “greatest show on turf” we’ve had some great tussles with the Seahawks and their Legion of Boom Defence! It’s probably fair to say that over the last 10 years they have been the team to beat in our division. The height of the” Legion of Boom time” would be when they went to back to back Super Bowls in 2014/15 Only winning in 2014 though. The 2015 Super Bowl I’m sure they would rather not talk about. I remember watching the game and they were so close to the End Zone only needing one yard to win the Super Bowl. Everyone and their dog (woof!) was thinking here comes (BEAST MODE FOR THE ONE YARD!!!) (That’s Marshawn Lynch HB) Just in case you live on the Moon lol but no, Seahawks pass on the one-yard line. Wilson throws an interception and the Seahawks lose one of the biggest heartbreakers in Super Bowl history. ….Anyway, enough history let’s get on to this week’s game.
The Seahawks are in kind of a transition time just now. Gone from their powerful defence are big names like Kam Chancellor SS, Richard Sherman CB, Cliff Avril RE, Michael Bennett LE and from there Offence one of Russell Wilsons favourite targets Jimmy Graham TE moved on in free agency. (That’s just some of the notable changes of the top of my head.)Also, just last week they lost Earl Thomas FS for the season with a leg break. So the team we will watch on Sunday is not the Seahawks we have been accustomed to seeing the last few years. Let’s have a look at some of the guys we will see and look out for.
Players to watch out for this week.
Russell Wilson QB
This guy is as close to a one-man offence as it gets. He is a master of buying time for receivers to get open with his great mobility and few are more accurate passing the ball on the run. The Seahawks have not had a great offensive line for a few seasons but this guy can be so elusive you’d never know it.
Doug Baldwin WR
Wilson’s main target. This guy is not the biggest WR you’ll ever meet but he has great speed, agility and hands. Also, he will do a sure job of catching the ball in traffic. This is the guy they will try and stretch the field with and this is important to the offence this year as they spoke in the offseason about establishing the running game this year.
Rashaad Penny HB
The Seahawks drafted Penny in the first round this offseason as they wanted to go back to their roots a little with a strong running game. Penny has been sharing time with Chris Carson this season with an injury to their other running back J.D. McKissic. Look for the Seahawks to try and be more balanced this season on offence but that could be hard with that offensive line.
Frank Clark RE
The Seahawks will be hoping this is their guy to get after the QB. Since the loss of Avril and Bennett on the defensive line, Clark is their best pass rusher and I don’t know if there’s much help around him.
Bobby Wagner MLB
Could be the best middle linebacker in the league. Just a great Field General of the defence with great speed and agility for a big man. Also, his great awareness complements his good catching hands!
Shaquill Griffin CB
This young Rookie is a real inspiration to us all. The Seahawks drafted him in the 5th round of the draft and since coming into the team this year has played very well. Nothing really surprising there Rob I hear you say, that is until you realise this young man was born with only one hand. I’m sure like me you wish him all the best in the NFL.
My final word on this game
If I’m honest I don’t see this one being close. As I’ve said above I just feel the Seahawks have lost too much on defence and with the season-ending injury to one of their best defensive players ( Earl Thomas FS) I just don’t see them being able to slow our offence. Wilson and Co on offence for them will try and make a game of it early on but like the second time, we played them last season this one could get ugly for them. My score prediction 33-10 to the Rams……Rob out
