Week 4 – Vikings Game Preview

Hi again Los Angeles Rams fans and welcome to this week’s game preview.

This week see us at home against the Minnesota Vikings. As you probably know it’s the Thursday night game this week. (Big shout out to all the Rams fans meeting in Manchester) With this being a shorter week it will be a shorter game preview given time restraints and largely my two cents. Any hoo let’s dive in….

The first thing I wanted to mention about the Vikings was when I got the opportunity last year to watch them in our week 11 match up, their defence just looked outstanding. It was the first team that really seemed to be able to keep our high scoring offence in check. If memory serves me right, we kept it close until later in the game when they were able to pull away for the win. They later went on to pull off the Minnesota miracle against the Saints in the playoffs. This took them to the championship game where they met the Eagles. That game didn’t work out so well for them as the Eagles were flying by that point (see what i did there lol) anyway enough about last season.

This Seasons Vikings might be even better than last year’s team. I believe the defence was pretty much unchanged in the offseason and in free agency they made a huge splash believing that an upgrade at QB could be the missing piece of the jigsaw for them. They were able to bring in the services of Kirk Cousins from the Redskins and journeyman (and old friend of ours) Case Keenum was moved on to Denver.

The Vikings this year sit at a 1 1 1 record at the moment after a tie to the Packers in week two and a tough loss that no one saw coming against the Bills last week. Make no mistake, last week I’m sure was just a blip and I’m sure the Vikings will be looking to bounce back very quickly. This (in my humble opinion) could be one of the strongest teams we will play all season and I fully expect them to be there at the business end when we get round to the playoffs.

Players to look out for in this one

Kirk Cousins QB The Vikings hope their big free agent pick up can take their passing game to a new level. And with a very talented wide receiver core and tight end they could put points on anyone. Dalvin Cook and Latavius Murray HB’s The Vikings have a great one two punch in their back field with the young Cook and the veteran Murray. Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen  WR’s Two top receivers with speed that could start on any team. Kyle Rudolph TE   Good all round veteran with a sure pair of hands. Linval Joseph DT A powerhouse on the defensive line and one of the top defensive lineman in the game. Xavier Rhodes CB The five-year veteran has bloomed into one of the best corner backs in the game. Harrison Smith FS This guy might be the best Free safety in the game..Enough said!

My Final note on this one

The Vikings are a very strong team in my opinion and this is a real test for us. We are going to be without Peters and Talib at cornerback and the Vikings have the receivers to take advantage of this as well. If the Vikings do have a weakness it’s on the offensive line, which we saw the Bills take advantage of last week. I also heard this morning that their Right End Everson Griffen will be out for this one so that is a big blow for their pass rush.   I predict a 21-18 win for the Rams……Rob out.
