Week 14 – Bears Game Preview

Hey Los Angeles Rams fans and welcome to this week’s game preview.

This week’s matchup see’s us in Chicago against the Bears who currently sit top of their division with an 8-4 record.  The Bears come into this game after a hard fought overtime loss to the Giants last week, but before that game, they had been on a 5 game winning streak.  In recent weeks though they have had some injuries to some key players like Mitchell Trubisky QB and Khalil Mack LOLB but are now getting these guys back.  With these guys fit and ready to go the Bears are looking very strong on both sides of the ball going down the stretch now, and new head coach Matt Nagy (formally offensive coordinator for the Chiefs) must be happy with how his first season is going in the windy city. Also to give you an idea of where the Bears are in the bigger picture, the Bears are the current third seed in the NFC behind us and the Saints…………Any hoo Rams fans on to this week’s game !

Players to watch out for this week

Khalil Mack “Blinking” watch out for Mack!!! lol

Mitchell Trubisky QB.
The second-year QB is starting to look the part now for the Bears and is repaying some of the price the Bears gave up to get him. You may remember the Bears paying a heavy price to the 49ers in draft picks in the 2016 draft to move up just one space to get him. At the time it raised a lot of eyebrows as nobody thought that the 49ers were going QB at number two anyway. Anyhoo the Bears were sold on this guy and we’re starting to see why now. Trubisky in his second year is also benefiting from the new head coach and offensive minded guy Matt Nagy. Trubisky has shown this year his strong arm and the ability to make good decisions. Also, don’t sleep on his mobility as this guy can take off if the pocket breaks down.

Tarik Cohen HB
Cohen was drafted the same year as Trubisky and again in his second season looks to be breaking out. Cohen has great speed and agility and has helped to make the Bears offence balanced which take some of the pressure off Trubisky. Also, Cohen can be elusive and is capable of going past any defender with a quick move, so our run defence will have to be on their game.

Allen Robinson WR
Robinson is a big receiver who has that rare combination of size and speed. This four-year veteran has great hands and will also make the difficult catches in traffic, also with that height, he will simply go up and pull it in.

Trey Burton TE
Burton is also a four-year veteran and a good all-round tight end. He will do the blocking stuff for their running game but also has decent hands and speed to be involved in the passing game when called upon.

Akiem Hicks LE
Hicks is one of the veteran leaders on this team and a guy who has really benefited from the Bears trading to bring in Khalil Mack. With Mack sometimes getting double teamed on the line, Hicks has had more chance to do what he does best, get after the QB. Look for a good tussle here this week between him and our Rob Havenstein!

Khalil Mack LOLB
Mack is, without doubt, the best pass rusher from the linebacker position in the league right now. Mack is just EPIC! Really there’s no other way to say it, he’s close to unblockable and just a nightmare for offensive linemen. Look for him to play both sides of the linebacker corp and just come at the offensive line from all angles.

Kyle Fuller, Bryce Callahan CB’S, Eddie Jackson FS,  and Adrian Amos SS
I’ve put the starting four secondary players together here because Ijust think this is a very good and very young group. If the Bears keep this group together I think the ceiling is very high for these guys and there’s real potential for something special.

My final word on this game

One big key factor in this game is that Chicago in December is not the Bahamas. The cold weather could play a big factor in this game, and this is when you can get dropped passes/fumbles and the likes. I expect both teams to factor this into the game plan and establish a running game early on, and try to have defences respecting this and then take their shots downfield when they present themselves. Also, I get the feeling this one is not going to be the high scoring game we have become accustomed to this season, more of a slugging match in the mud where defences could be on top for long periods. I also think our strong passing game against their strong defensive secondary could be the key battle for us in this one. If we can move the ball in the air I think we give ourselves a real chance, but expect a close one this week Ramily maybe even a scrap in the mud, which could stand us in good stead for playoffs scraps to come…….My Score prediction for this one is Rams win 24-20…And that’s my two cents Ramily….Rob
