With the 2019 NFL season just days from kicking off, we at LA Rams UK HQ decided to have a go at predicting the win-loss record of the Los Angeles Rams. Below is a table of our predictions, along with a brief explanation for our thinking. There will be logic in the thinking, but no guarantee it is any good. We’ll have a look back in 17 weeks’ time to see how right or wrong we were!
As always, let us know your thoughts on our predictions and also what you think the Rams 2019 record will look like when all is said and done.
I had the Rams at 13-3 after the initial schedule release, but I’ve revised that a little. 12-4 should still see the Rams win the division and have at least 1 home playoff game.
I’ve got the Rams starting 4-0 before having a mid-season wobble. Going to Seattle on a short week for a Primetime game is a tough ask and I think Russell Wilson can work some magic and give the Rams a loss. Atlanta holds unhappy memories for this Rams team and I just think more are in store here in what is likely to be a shootout. Coming off a bye in the cold of Pittsburgh is a recipe for disaster and the Steelers might have enough to ruin Aaron Donald’s homecoming. The final loss I have on the Rams schedule is on the road to Dallas. After what is sure to be another bruising game against Seattle the week before, the Cowboys might just run the Rams into submission and their 4th L of the season.
I’m calling an 11-5 or 12-4 season for the Los Angeles Rams and 5-1 in the Division. Hopefully that will be enough for us to take the NFC West for the third straight season but there will be a hard run in the playoffs to follow.
I’m expecting a bit of a Super Bowl hangover this season and don’t expect us to match the 13-3 record of 2018. New Orleans are hurt by that playoff loss and will come in hard for us in Week 2, it’ll be close but I think we might just lose it. Seattle is always a hard trip and again I think the Seahawks will really want to take our scalp at home. We return to the site of our Super Bowl loss in Week 7 and I think we may come up short on the road in another close game. We play Chicago in LA in Week 11 and I think they’ll maybe be too physical, this could easily go either way but I’m saying we lose here. Our final loss of the season will come at Dallas, it’ll be a tough one to swallow, but will come with plenty of learnings for us.
I have us finishing with a strong 13-3 record this coming season. Sweeping the division and getting a bye in the playoffs is on the cards for me… I’m an optimist. We will start off strong against Panthers and take a W from the much anticipated Saints ‘revenge’ game, keeping Thomas in check with our bolstered defense and McVay’s game planning much improved for this rematch. We will also avenge our loss against the Bears. Chicago’s defense will be tough again but it is hard to repeat that kind of form from one year to the next, the game also being played on our turf will give us the edge in this close game. With regards to the losses, I think we will have a freak loss to the Browns away in Week 3, the one we ‘shouldn’t lose’ under normal circumstances, especially after a great win against the Saints the week before. Ryan and the Falcons have a great roster offensively, with their 3 wideouts potentially being number 1’s on a lot of other teams, also this game being in the “Birds Nest” I see this one going their way. Baltimore, with Jackson as their QB, can ball with anyone and I think their strength in the run game will be the edge against our slightly improved rush defense.
Past regular season, I see us making it to the NFC Championship and dare I say it another shot at the Lombardi.
I have the Rams with a 13-3 winning record for the 2019 season to mirror last year. We will win the division again and go deep in the playoffs. With the New Orleans loss, they will be out for revenge and this will be a serious grudge match. I think they will want the W a little more following last seasons’ NFC Championship game. With the Steelers, we always start slow after a bye week and going there in the cold will prove a tough test. I have a strange feeling that Dallas will be stronger this year with a few less off field issues! They will surprise a few and with us getting to the part of the season for resting players and getting ready for playoff football, they might catch us off guard.
I have us going 11-5, I still think we’ll win the division.
Week two we have an angry Saints team coming to LA, I think they’ll beat us. Sean Peyton has spent all off season game planning for this one, they want revenge. I see us going into the Week 9 bye, 5-3 with losses in Seattle and Atlanta. Seattle are always dangerous as long as Russell Wilson is around. We’ve got a great recent record against them but I feel it’s time for a Seahawks win. I can confirm we’ll score more than the three points we mustered the last time we travelled to Atlanta, but I think the Falcons beat us in a shootout. We have a tough three game stretch after the bye, coming up against three of the best defenses in football. I think the Steelers will get the better of us in Week 10.
After Week 10, I think we’ll go on a five game winning streak to all but seal the division. A late season loss to the 49ers won’t make much difference to our playoff seeding, finishing as the 3rd seed. That will set up a wildcard game against the Saints.
I predict a 13-3 season which I think will win our division comfortably and hopefully another run towards the Super Bowl.
Back to this season’s prediction and I have the Rams winning their first two games against the Panthers & Saints. Week 3 is where I can see our first loss. I don’t think the Browns are sneaking up on anyone now as they are bursting with talent and at home I think they will be a force. I then think the Rams go on a three game win streak, beating Tampa, Seattle on the road and San Francisco. Week 7, is where I see the next loss. I think the Falcons are much better than last season’s record showed as they were hit hard with injuries. Then I think the Rams can go on a real winning run and win the next six games which includes some tough matchups some good teams. Week 15, I can see another loss here as Dallas continued to improve this offseason and this could be a tough one on the road. Week 16 we beat the 49ers. And week 17 we end the regular season with a win over the Cardinals.
So, there you have our teams predictions for the 2019 LA Rams season. We hope that the Rams can be as successful as we think and go on another deep playoff run.
