2020 Free Agency Part 2

L.A. Rams 2020 Free Agency – Part 2

Welcome Rams fans to the second part of our look at this off seasons Free Agency. You may remember (or you may not lol) I made a number of predictions on our own Free agents and how it might all go down in the first article. Well, read on to see how monumentally wrong I was, or did I get a few right?

Andrew Whitworth LT. I said hopefully, re-signed.   (Right)

Yep got this one right. Whit signed a 3-year contract worth $30 million. I also stand by saying; Re-signing Big Whit is the most important signing the Rams will make this offseason!

Dante Fowler Jr. OLB/END. I said, hopefully re-signed.  (Wrong)

I had said in the article that – thought the Rams might prioritize Fowler over Littleton and try to bring him back, but it wasn’t to be. Fowler got an offer he couldn’t refuse from the Falcons in the shape of $45 million over three years.

Cory Littleton. ILB. I said, I think he’ll hit the market.  (Right)

I said in the previous article that of our big two Free Agents I thought Littleton was most likely to hit Free Agency and he did. Again, getting a higher offer than what we could have made him. Littleton signed with the Raiders for $35.25 million over three years.

Austin Blythe. G/C. I said it’s a big maybe? But will be made an offer.  (I’m giving myself this one as my take in the first article was towards a positive. Plus, I’m the one writing this stuff. Abuse of power I hear you say? Never !!!   (Right)

Blythe re-signed on a one year contract for $3.9 million and like me, I’m sure you’re hoping he can regain his 2018 form which saw him take the Right Guard spot from Jamal Brown…

Greg Zuerlein. K.  I said, hopefully re-signed.  (Wrong)

I did say that over the NFL some teams maybe don’t value the Kicker position as much as other teams. Again, money may have been an issue here, but to be honest I also felt this would have been too big a hole to leave in the team with nothing of the same caliber in Free Agency or the draft. Anyhoo in come Dallas in Free Agency and his old special teams coach “Bones” and Zuerlein signs a three-year contract for $7.5 million.

Michael Brockers. DT. I said, I think he’ll hit the market.  (Now he kinda did hit the market but failed his medical and the Raven’s pulled the plug on signing him, then we signed him to a team-friendly contract $24 million of three years. (Right)

I’m giving myself this one too because he would have been gone albeit for the medical. I’m glad really, as I’m a fan of this guy on our line.

Nickell Robey-Coleman.CB. I said, no brainer! He stays!  (Wrong)

I got this one wrong folk. I thought the fifth-year option was friendly enough for us to pick up and keep the productive Nickel corner but apparently not. Robey-Coleman signed with Eagles on a one year contract for £1.35 million.

Blake Bortles. QB. I said, I think he’ll want to test the market.  (Right)

Last seen still testing the market.

Bryce Hager ILB.  I said, Tests the market and moves on.  (Wrong)

Hager and the Rams were able to come together on a one year contract.

Marqui Christian.S. I said, hopefully, re-signed. (Wrong)

Christian hit Free Agency and has now signed with the Jets on a Two year contract worth $2 million…..Next was:

Mike Thomas. WR. I said, will be made an offer.  (Kinda Right)  I’m sure an offer was made from the Rams.

He wanted to test the water though and ended up signing with the Bengals on a one year contract for $850.000.

Well Folks, that was the main Free Agents from the first article, how did I do?… Well, from my counts I got 6 out of 11 right ish lol. And yea we could have a stewards inquiry on a couple.

Free Agents inbound

Leonard Floyd, Outside Linebacker. Was given a one year deal to kinda prove it! Didn’t we do that with Flower! Anyway, he will look to replace Dante Flower jr on the outside of that defence and get after the passer. Floyd was a first-round pick for the bears back in 2016 (pick 9 overall) Last season he had 12 QB hits and 3 sacks. Hopefully he can play up to his full potential which never really happened in Chicago and land a nice contract next season!

A’Shawn Robinson, Defensive Tackle. Was given a two year $17 million deal to complement Donald and Brockers down on the line. Robinson is big a bodied guy who will help to stuff the run and be in rotation with the likes of Greg Gaines. Robinson was drafted in the second round of the 2016 draft.

Well folks, thanks for taking the time to read and as always Go Rams!
